Employment Benefits for Overseas Recruited Teachers

HOUSING
  • The singles housing supplement is determined using an index of new rental contracts in the month of June for a 1.5 bedroom apartments at South Horizon complex.

    In the case of overseas hired teachers with an approved dependent the teacher will receive a housing supplement of 1.4 times the single housing allowances. Teaching couples who are hired overseas will receive 1.7 times the single housing allowance. Married teaching couples with one dependent child will receive 2.2 times the single housing allowance and with two dependent children will receive 2.6 times the single allowance.

    Housing supplements are paid in advance and are paid for a 12-month period.

    Please note the dependent must have been declared and agreed to by the school upon at the signing of the initial employment contract.

AIRFARE
  • Economy airfare from home of record to Hong Kong and return with the successful conclusion of contract for self and one dependent per teaching contract.

  • Economy airfare to and from home of record for summer leave for self and one dependent per teaching contract.

PENSION
  • If you are required or elect to participate in the provident fund, the school will match your actual employee contribution up to $1,000

SICK LEAVE
  • 10 days sick leave per annum

BEREAVEMENT LEAVE
  • Bereavement Leave (a death in the immediate family-parent, sibling, child, or spouse) of 5 days with round-trip airline tickets to home of record.

OTHER LEAVE WITH PAY
  • 2 days per annum upon approval of Head of School.

LANGUAGE SUPPORT
  • Free Mandarin language lessons.

INSURANCE
  • International medical, hospitalization & travel insurance (including basic dental) for self and one dependent per teaching contract.
  • Worker's compensation insurance per Hong Kong law.

TUITION REIMBURSEMENT
  • Tuition free HKA enrollment for 1 dependent child per individual contract.

VISAS
  • All work visa and residency fees for teachers and qualified dependents.

RELOCATION ALLOWANCE
  • Relocation allowance of 15,000 HK$ per single teaching contract paid in cash on arrival in Hong Kong. In the case of teaching couples and teacher with approved dependent(s) this amount is multiplied by dependents/couples’ housing ratio. (i.e. Teacher with one dependent is multiplied by 1.4)

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
  • All staff have access to a pool of professional learning funds which they may apply to use. School-initiated Professional Development is paid for directly by the school.

BAGGAGE & SHIPPING ALLOWANCE
  • Baggage and shipping allowance of 12,000 HK$ per teaching contract upon presentation of receipts to and from Hong Kong. In the case of teaching couples and teacher with approved dependent(s) this amount is multiplied by dependent/couples’ housing ratio. (i.e. teacher with one dependent is multiplied by 1.4)

RECRUITING
  • Up to 5 days paid leave for attending a recruiting fair for non-returning faculty upon approval of the Head of School.
